EMSC Collaboration Webinar - Sphere of Influence Comprehensive Trauma Care Brings to Regional Pediatric Preparedness

Join the Upcoming WRAP-EM EMSC Collaboration Quarterly Webinar

February 12, 2024 at 12:00-1:00pm PST / 1:00-2:00pm MST

Our guest speaker this time is Dr. Mary Fallat, Professor of Surgery at University of Louisville School of Medicine and Medical Director, Surgical Quality at Norton Children's Hospital.

Dr. Fallat's presentation will be: "Understanding the Sphere of Influence that Comprehensive Trauma Care brings to Regional Pediatric Preparedness".

Trauma remains the leading cause of death in children under 18yr. Approximately 22% of the population is under 18yr (72.4 million) and 13.4 million live in rural America. Access to hospitals that have a pediatric ready emergency department are essential to early recognition and treatment of childhood injuries. However, comprehensive trauma system care that includes children is the ideal goal for improving state and regional pediatric preparedness. In many areas of the country, this will require a paradigm shift in how we approach trauma care.
